There’s often some confusion with clients when setting up a FaceBook fan page for their business. I’ve decided to write a quick post on the questions I’m often asked surrounding this.

By creating a page for your business on FaceBook you have the ability to connect and engage with your customers where they are at. You interrupting them and asking them to move away from their online activities to visit your website. Instead you are bringing your content to them, in a platform they are familiar with and comfortable with using. How do I Create a FaceBook Fan Page?
First off, and this is probably the most common question i am asked, you need to create your own FaceBook account before you create a business page. This is a fairly reasonable request since the business page needs to have an owner. Its likely you already have an account, in that case just login. Under your Account settings there should be an option to create a FanPage or Business Page. Click that link and follow the prompts.
Send a note to all your friends and connections both on and off FaceBook and let them know about your page.
Note, when setting up your page, you’ll be given a url to access your fan page. This will usually be a long string of letters and numbers, hard to remember and awkward looking. Once you reach 30 fans or more, you’ll have the option to request a “pretty url”. You can then rename your fan page url with something more easy to remember, that will assist in improving your online image and help you gain more fans.
